Merry Christmas 2014

Let me start off by saying Merry Christmas to you and your family. Secondly, like most of my posts I also want to apologize for the length of time it takes me to posts in between posts. But like many of you, we are busy, busy people. If its not a night of sports practice then its a school play, or a trip to the library, gym, or a buddies house to play. I've now become a  Chauffeur  to our oldest son. As I look back on this year and reflect I remember the good times with my family, the traveling for vacation, baseball tournaments, and camping trips. My sister-in-law had baby number 2 (baby #1 is 15yrs old). Yes, she was a SURPRISE, but we are blessed to have her in our family.  Overall I would have to say it was a great year. My boys are growing up so fast. My friend just pointed out to me that its only 9 more years until my oldest goes off to college. Nine years, WHAT??? Where did the first nine years go??? I'm not sure I'm ready for that. Then I have to think if my oldes

Schools back in session

Like many of you mothers out there, I'm sure you have been shopping for school supplies, getting new school clothes and shoes for the first day of school. Well for most of us in the West this is the second week of school for elementary, middle & high school. My youngest went into kindergarten this year and my oldest went to the 3rd grade. Its been a mad rush around my house trying to get the last camping trip of the summer, getting lunches packed, and transitioning to early bed times. #FIRSTDAYOFSCHOOL I've been busy with work at my fairly new job...it seems the more you know the busier you become. I've stepped back a bit from selling Stella & Dot  only because i really don't enjoy spending my free time with strangers at a party. I'd rather be with my family, so I just did a very successful party with my senior stylist and will be transitioning out of parties. I'm more of a techy- go to my website if you like it, buy it. If not, no bid deal. So it f

10 Affordable Things To Do With Kids

10 Inexpensive Summer Fun Days in Spokane Today is a rainy day in Spokane which is bitter sweet, the grass   and gardens need a break for the hot sun, but I want to enjoy the warm weather before it's all gone. This got me to thinking what can I do inside the home with my kids that in inexpensive. So here are 10 things you can do that are affordable with your kids. 1. Rent a redbox movie . I really want to see Heaven is for real . I've read the book now I want to see the movie with my kids. I think redbox is less than $1.25 per movie. I think we can handle this. 2. Read a book with your kids. Go to the library and check out books. Its free and they even have OneClick digital so you don't have to go to the library, you can check out eBooks from the convenience of your home. Also check out freegal its free music you get to download up to 5 songs per week! Awesome!! 3. When it's not raining, go to the park, here in Liberty Lake we are blessed with many great

Washington Wine Month

So what is a girl to do when its 8:00 am she's awake, and the kids are asleep including the friend sleeping over? Coffee first but next? Blog of course. Its not every day you have uninterrupted time to yourself to just Blog. Summer is almost over and I feel like it just began. Here in Spokane its been 90+ degrees for several weeks now and its starting to get unbearable. My beautiful hanging baskets are dying from the heat, so extra water is a must. You can see in the picture below the hanging basket on top is dying and the basket on the bottom is still doing well. But in my garden its flourishing. I have tons of tomatoes with lots of varieties like Heirloom, cherry tomatoes (sweet olive), grape tomatoes, can you tell I LOVE tomatoes? Then I have zucchini, cucumbers, had Lettuce, Pumpkins, Walla Walla Sweet Onions, Basil, Cilantro, Red onions, and Strawberries. Its definitely enough to add fresh toppings to a salad or home made salsa or Pico de gallo. I've already made home ma

Part Time or Full Time

Part-time or full-time working parents That is the question. I would like to say that I have an answer for you but I don't. With flexible schedules, and job sharing there are more options these days. But each family has their own financial circumstances, or personal or religious reasons which may or may not allow both parents to work. In my case I have to work, because I would go insane and there are several other factors that play into this. 1. If I don't work I can't spend money frugally or on a whim. 2. I've noticed that if I have a day off from work, I tend to spend more money than if I were there, so it actually costs me more money to stay home.   3. I like to buy things when they are on sale and if I can't make the purchase it would drive me crazy, or I would end up buying it dipping into funds I shouldn't be touching. 4. I'm not much of a budgeter, my friend the accountant tried to show me her spreadsheet of how she categor

Father's Day Around The Corner

Hello again Ladies, Well its getting to be that time of year when we have to be creative and get our husbands, and fathers a Fathers Day gift. What do you get a man that has everything or just goes and buys what he wants when he wants it? That is the question I ask myself every year. Well I'm not going to pretend that I have it all figured out, because I don't. However, I have an idea of where to start. Pinterest is always a great place to find ideas on that unique gift for you and the kids to make. There are a ton of great ideas for kids to do, the one I liked was this and you could even go a step further writing "YOUR THE BEST DAD, HANDS DOWN!" This year I either have it really easy this year or really hard. Its my wedding anniversary and Fathers day. My husband calls it a combo gift, because I usually get a birthday/anniversary combo gift. But this year its his turn. Anyway, I suppose I should make it special. June is a very busy month for us, as I'm sur

Baseball Mom

Hello Ladies, It's been so busy I can barely think. Last weekend we went to Missoula Montana for the MoJo Baseball tournament and stayed the Holiday Inn. It’s a nice hotel, clean rooms, looks like new, and they have a great pool for all the kids. We've just been busy running kids around and being parents. Update - ULTA didn't have the Red Carpet Gel Kit that I wanted so I tried the Coeur d’Alene store and they didn't have it either. I needed a kit so I bought one at Target. I got the Sally Hansen Gel Kit and it was $49.99 with $10 in store gift card. Its called Sensationail Gel Polish Starter Kit . It was really easy to use and the nails turned out awesome! My girlfriend told me that any gel nail color would or should work with the other gel products, however I got a red carpet nail color and used it with the Sally gel and it didn't work that well. So once I am all done with the Sally Hansen products I'm going to purchase the OP

Busy Spokane Summer

Sorry I haven't blogged FOREVER but I have been soooo busy. As most of us working mothers are. Where to begin.....Well most recently we got back from Cabo San Lucas and we stayed at the Villa Del Palmar Cabo. It was so much fun, safe and kid friendly. I would highly recommend this place for any age to come. They have several different pools. The upper pool is more calm where a lot of older folks and people without kids hang out, there's the lower pool with the whale slide and hourly activities provided the hotel where we hung out. There's a pool next to the bar, one on another side of a restaurant, and a toddler pool. SOOOOO MUCH FUN!!!! Before we left and before we got back its been work, work, work and BASEBALL for the boys. 5+ days a week baseball between the 2 boys is crazy. Can you say "fast food" for dinner? Anyway, I have other blogs that I do more regularly because they are work related, but they have tons of information on Home Projects like adding n

Pay it forward Spokane

PAY IT FORWARD- Yesterday I was in a meeting downtown and I knew I only had 2 hrs on the meter but I didn't want to miss any important information or the opportunity to speak to some key decision makers after the seminar. So after my meter had long expired I see the ticket guy in this little car with lights blaring and he's got a ticket on my car, yet as I glance at the meter it's got 11 min left ... . I tried to talk my way out of it explaining my situation and the guy said, Well it's your lucky day, see that lady down there, she put money in your meter as I was writing the ticket, he then grabbed the ticket off my windshield and said I don't normally do this. I profusely apologized and thanked him as he walked away on to the next ticket. So I was able to thank the nice lady for putting $ in the meter and for this I say PAY IT FORWARD TODAY, this week, or this month. Have a great Thursday.

Facebook in Spokane #FBSpokane

#FBSpokane I attended a great event today from Facebook  at the Double Tree Hotel in Downtown Spokane . The event was called Facebook for Business  or Facebook Small Business Boost which had over 200 people in attendance, the largest group Facebook says they have ever had. The presentation and panelist were there from 9:00am - 11:00am and stayed around to answer questions at the end.   The good news is that I already knew a lot of the information they were telling us about in regards to business pages. But they also put a lot of myths to rest like, the best time of the day to post is 10:00am...or..... you have to have lots of posts to get LIKES on your Page. Well its different for each company and there is no real answer. Facebook says that the time of day your posts are read depends on your users, and there are ways to track that information for your business. They also said that relevant content is more valuable then lots of posts. So tracking this information for your bus

Pinot's Palette to open downtown Spokane

I have to say I can't hardly wait for Pinot's Palette to open in downtown Spokane. I have a date with my BFF's and I'm so looking forward to it. Their grand opening on Friday, February 28, 2014. You have to go online and register for a class. I first saw this when I was in Las Vegas in January. There is painting and drinking, definitely a good thing, right? So I met the new owner and she told us all about the franchise and how it works, I immediately called my girlfriends and made set a date. I think the class if from 7-9 and they teach you how to draw a featured painting and you can order drinks while you paint. Why didn't I think of this???? We are going in March and I cannot wait!!! Below is the painting we will be trying to paint. I will take pics with my iPhone and post them. Intesteted to see who's looks the best. Last but not least not sure why I want to share but i will.....Here is a picture of my favorite hair products. I'm sure I will do an

Weight Watchers Simple Start

So its been a few days since I last posted and a lot has happened. Before I forget my sons basketball team won their first game. Woo hooo!!! So I want to give you an update on the  Covergirl Bombshell Volume by LashBlast Mascara that I tried last week for a few days (I spoke about last week) and I decided I don't like it. It really makes my lashes clump together and they didn't look good at all. So I decided to buy a different product. My co-worker told me that Loreal was a really good brand to I purchased their eye mascara and eye pencil. OMG I LOVE the eye pencil. Its been years since I've found one that I loved and this one makes the cut. I purchased Loreal and I like it much better. it doesnt clump and it evenly spready the mascara on your lashes. I purchased the Loreal Voluminous Original color black 360 and Loreal Extra Intense liquid eye pencil color Brown 797 .  I typically go with a brown eye liner because black is too dark for my complexion and it looks to g

Spokane Golf Show

The Spokane Golf Show runs Feb 15-16 at the Convention center. Today started out like any other day made the kids breakfast: eggo waffles , bananas, and   yoplait cherry yogurt . I ran to Albertsons to grab snacks  form the basketball team so I got them orange gatorade (cause their jerseys are orange) and oreos . I went with oreos because a child on the team has a peanut,  or tree nut allergy and I heard that those were the best snacks for kids with allergies. Off we went to the basketball game for my son who is in the second grade. He played amazing today, his entire team played awesome. Although the ref doesn't keep score in YMCA  the parents and kids usually do anyways. I don't want to brag or anything, but we pretty much smoked the other team. After an amazing game we had some kids to drop off from the team, then ended up going home and getting ready to go out to lunch. We ended up going to Buffalo wild wings with some friends and it was really good. I had a salad (g

Valentine's Day 2014

This Valentines day started out a little different than usual at 3 AM my son threw up all over in the bedroom. It was quickly followed with a fever and the first words out of my mouth were, "Well there goes our Valentine's Day date." But the night was still young and the next morning he felt fine and he wasn't running a fever so I sent him off to school. My work day was crazy busy it started off with a meeting in the Spokane Valley with coffee and fruit. Then off to the office where I spent most the day just trying to get caught up from the weeks work. I had a fantastic Valentine's Day. My husband and I went for an amazing bottle of wine at Eau de Vie Wine Shop in Liberty Lake next to Hay J's.  We had some incredible wine called pepper bridge cabernet sauvignon and the appetizers were from Hay J's. I choose the Tapa Platter which was Cilantro hummus, kalamata tapenade & roasted tomato-artichoke spread. Served with grilled sourdough, sliced cucum

The day before Valentine's Day!

Today was another early day. I was up at 5:00am, but this morning was a little different I had a new toy or makeup product to open and use for the first time. I opened a new tube of Covergirl Bombshell Volume by LashBlast Mascara (boy that's a mouth full). I purchased it a few weeks ago and just now opened it. It is two mascara's in one. One side is for Volume and the other for Intensity. I think I like it so far and paid $10 and had a  $1 or $2 off coupon .  I have to say I am weird about makeup. I'm kind of a mut, I wear multiple brands of makeup and have done it for years. The one items that I have not fallen in love with yet are mascara and eye liner, so I tend to buy whatever looks cool. So here it goes, I only use Mary Kay for foundation, Clinique powder bronzer , Physicians Formula for eye Shadow and finish concealer , Covergirl wetslicks lip gloss and Vivite replenish hydrating cream for my face. Don't ask me to switch or even try another brand, I wont. I
